CODING
One activity that the students can be assigned is de-coding and coding suffragette messages using the real Women's Social & Political Union code.
Other activities are available including those relating the law-abiding suffragists.

"In the suffragette workshop, we had a talk about what difficulties the suffragettes went through to fight for the cause they believed in. Shortly after we were given two activities: the first included a comprehension task about suffragist actions in Kent; and the second a decoding activity using the actual code used by the suffragettes to ensure people didn't find out about their planned activities.
Personally I enjoyed the second activity the best because it helped us to understand the severity of the planning and secrecy of all their operations."
